FAQs (Jordan Backpack FAQs Chinese)

(St George, Map of the Holy Land)。

25th Dec Road to Petra

Clusters of sunshine is dancing over the curtain, looked like a good day for picnic. Had breakfast with yogurt we bought last night, mashed with strawberry jam, very nice. Buying from grocery shops is alright, 2JD (about GBP1.6 pounds) got us a grand pot of yogurt, 1.5L water and a pack of cigarettes.
Pack up, check [...]

Madaba is a small market town 30km southwest of Amman, Situated on the two cross country highways. It is quite convenient as a ‘base camp’ for travelling around. To the North – Jerash, Ajloun, Mount Nebo (where Moses looked over the Promised Land and died there), Dead sea, Jesus Baptist site all in two [...]

Jordan 2005 Preface

It is that time of the year again. The virtual globe started spinning … Where would we go this time? Somewhere in the 50 must-go places, a place takes less than 7 hours flight, somewhere is interesting and not too cold.
Here comes Jordan and Petra – where Harrison Ford found the Holy Grail in the [...]

Exploring Ancient Civilisation in 180 hours (a Year)

I set myself a target – to explore and gain knowledge of great civilisations. Understand the extent and massive work this potentially involve, I would like to take a retrospective approach.
The aim: a rough map and guide to appreciate ancient civilisations and world history when we are travelling there to admire the historic monuments.
The method: [...]

Terrorism

“When was the last bus attack? I mean there was the bus attack yesterday and…”
“Why? Why do you ask?”
“Well I was thinking of taking a tour to the west bank. You think its safe?” I prompted the friendly Jewish driver.
“I mean, you know, with the bus bombs and all.”
“Ohh, heh… it doesn’t work that [...]
